National Indicator : Final Consultation Workshop Held In Nay Pyi Taw

 Final Consultation Workshop for Development of the National Indicator Framework for Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (MSDP) was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.

         The workshop aims for emergence of the National Indicator Framework that can monitor and assess the effectiveness, progress, sustainability and impact of implementing the MSDP.MSDP includes 3 pillars, 5 goals, 28 strategies and 251 action plans which are aligned with the Global Sustainable Development Goals and also in conformity with the needs of development of the country.

           Once the indicators were approved, it could help the Government monitor the impact of policies and projects and programs on improving the living conditions and economy as well as the protection of environment and so on.

           Director General, Central Statistical Organization, San Myint said “The implementation process for indicator framework has been initiated in 2018. We have formed 13 working groups held discussions to identify the indicators. The first draft was done in December last year, and sent it to the related ministries, development partners and NGOs to get the feedback.”It is learnt that more than 280 indicators have already been identified which will be used to monitor the situation of Myanmar in terms of sustainable development up to 2030.

         Senior Consultant, UNDP, Nicolas Garrigue said "We actually started this project one year ago. We are working together with the Central Statistics Office in Myanmar in coordinating the development of the Framework of Indicators for the new Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan. We have had several rounds of meetings and discussions with members and senior staffs of all the Ministries in Myanmar."The Workshop will be held till the 7th of June.
