2nd Workshop on Project Appraisal was held ( Naypyitaw, November 5)

Workshop on project appraisal, with the objective of enhancing capacity of project appraisal, was held on 30 October to 1 November, 2018 by the support of JICA at Project Appraisal and Progress Reporting Department, Office(32), PFM training hall and was attended by 18 officials who are responsible for works concerned with appraising chapters.

In the workshop, two JICA experts led the attendees to appraise the project proposals whether environmental impact was considered as an important factor or not, by contributing the case of Mercury disease happened in Japan. Deputy Director of Environmental Conservation Department, Daw Hla Hla Htwe, also delivered EIA, IEE and EMP with so many instances to show how dangerous it was if natural environment were not considered. In the final day of workshop, group discussion was conducted on construction of power stations for Yangon International Airport as a case study. JICA experts also shared Japan’s experiences on construction of power stations. The workshop was successfully ended at 13:00 pm after the certificates were awarded to each staff.
